Things are beginning to cool down a bit but not so much that we can't do some more TUBING!!!!

But first joins us on Sept. 25 at Buford Dam on Lake Lanier to help support the Kiwanis Club and the "Bring a kid fishing" day. It runs from 9am to 1pm.

It is going to be a blast and afterward we will be on the lake water skiing and tubing until the sun goes down.

We are planning a High Adventure Mountain Climbing outing on April 10&11 (this is the new date)

We will be learning and practicing mountain climbing techniques on Saturday then going to a local mountain in Georgia on Sunday to put it all to good use.

Do you have a White Elephant? Do you know what a White Elephant is?

The main event at our Holiday Party at the Scout Hut on Tues., Dec. 29th will be a White Elephant gift game. You and your family are welcome to come and join in the merriment. Bring a friend and a wrapped White Elephant gift valued between $5 & $15. A White Elephant exchange is a great way to get rid of unwanted gifts you've recently received. The tacky ones are the best for the game. Here's the way it works:

EVERYONE that brings a wrapped unwanted (but unbroken) gift valued between $5 & $15 will choose a number out of a basket. The more participants we have, the more fun we have! All the gifts are placed together. Whomever has #1 GOES FIRST AND LAST. So, #1 chooses any random gift from the pile and opens it and shows it to everyone. Then #2 can either steal away the previously opened gift or choose an unopened gift. If he steals from #1, then #1 gets to choose another unopened gift. Then #3 gets to choose between the opened gifts and the unopened gifts. This continues until all the gifts have been opened. THEN #1 gets to choose from ALL the unopened gifts, trading his for someone elses. Of course the game is even more fun (lots of stealing going on) if you wrap something EVERYBODY wants (such as anything edible).

On December 5th, 2009, the Crew's adult leaders and youth officers attended University of Scouting all day. David and Carol now have Venturing Leader Specific Training (VLST) and will receive a TRAINED  patch.  James, Katie and Carmen had fun participating in Venturing Leadership Skills Course (VLSC) and will receive a VLSC TRAINED patch for their Class A uniform shirts. They also received a special commemorative UNIVERSITY OF SCOUTING 2009 patch. We're proud of your dedication! 

On the Saturday after Thanksgivig Day we went on a "Extreme" Adventure in downtown Atlanta. After helping the Youth Ministry of St. Brendan's Church assemble over 300 bagged lunches, we followed the Seven Bridges Ministry vehicles into "The Bluffs" of downtown Atlanta, greeting and praying with the less fortunate of the community - the homeless, the addicted, the abandoned, the poor and afflicted. Oh yeah, we handed out the bagged lunches also. It was definitely an adventure in stepping out of our comfort zones and a lesson in awareness of those in need not too far from home. It was a beautiful day and an extremely helpful experience in reminding us of how blessed we are and what we have to be THANKFUL for. We experienced new sights, sounds AND SMELLS that we've never experienced on any other adventure.
